“Look, the trees
are turning
their own bodies
into pillars of light...”
ISCARIOT PISCES is a body of work dedicated to the exploration of
volume, material, and texture, employing metal as the sculptural medium.
The artist takes an experimental approach to metalworking and grounds it in ancient casting techniques, creating wearable sculptures inspired by nature.
Each piece is singular and unique.
There is a spontaneity and openness in the experimentation of the medium,
yielding raw and organic forms.
The making occurs both in and out of the workshop.
The bark of a tree, perhaps a rock, or a fallen leaf-
These are the inspirations, even the tools that make a piece.
The work embraces the natural dignity of raw, darkened, and cracked surfaces;
Refined, polished finishes are deliberately avoided - they are illusions.
Ultimately, the works strive to materialise an internal state in
dialogue with the natural world that surrounds and sustains it.
